For a long time, my favourite tech site, Ars Technica, has been rightly criticized for covering Microsoft and Apple in great depth (as to which of these they are accused of focusing on... well, that seems to vary month to month ;), but not covering Open Source or Linux to any great extent.

design
I have now uploaded my new site design. The site was starting to look dated so I have redesigned it. It now not only looks better but should be easier to navigate. I have not added any new features yet, but the new design should make it easier for me to add new features to the site in the future, so keep you eyes peeled. The big changes are variabl... (more)

I have just uploaded some new code to hpoom so that you can now filter blog posts by tag as well as category. This is all part of the changes I have started to work on to update the site and give it a new look. I will now move on to redesigning the site and hopefully upload the new look site soon. In the mean time enjoy the tags method of browsing ... (more)

Today Apple has announced their Safari browser is now available for Microsoft Windows. Firstly I find this a joke as most people on windows use Microsoft IE as they don't care about what browser they use, and those that do care about what browser they use will download Mozilla Firefox. I use a MacBook Pro for work. I like most other peo... (more)

Article: Leopard delayed until October, says Apple
In spite of what this article says, some doom merchants were predicting this release date for Leopard.
But so what? Why would I change my purchasing plans for this news?

squidoo
I have been using Squidoo for about a month now. For those that don't know what Squidoo is, it is a website where you can write a single page on a topic of your choice. This page Squidoo refers to as a lens, and these lenses can be made up of various components like RSS Feeds, guestbooks, videos, ebay items etc. For more info on Squidoo... (more)

I have, since December 2006, been the proud owner of an Apple Macbook.
My purchase of this machine was specifically timed to coincide with Christmas. Not as an indulgent, juicy present for yours truly (though it was that ;) but because I wanted to have the machine in time for traveling back to see my family for the holidays.

Hi All, Those of you that know me will know I have been trying to update my site for a long time.
In the end I decided to host a blog style site at www.hpoom.co.uk. The idea behind this is that I can update the content of the site more easily and also allow other people to contribute to hpoom as well. Being a web programmer I did not wan... (more)
